June Nutshell
by Lotus, Kimberly, and Frank
Our June meeting day was sunny, cool and windy.
Next Month's Meeting Date
Next month (July) the Puerto Rican Festival will be held at the Historic Museum on the 3rd Saturday. We could move our meeting to July 2nd if we want. We should vote on line. The online vote has moved the meeting to July 11.
Sheep to Shawl
The Alameda County fair Sheep to Shawl is July 19. Nobody has heared from the organizing guild Silverado Spinners. We only have 1 volunteer (a new member Jennifer). We are thinking we should formally cancel.
Monterey Wool
The Monterey wool judging is on July 25th. This is always an interesting way to learn more about wool. The judging is held on the grounds of the Monterey County fair. Wes and Jane Patton are the judges this year. The judging starts at 10:00 am. There is usually coffee and sweets in the morning. Lunch is a potluck. The Monterey wool auction is August 16th. Don't believe their website when it say the auction is on Monday, the 17th. It's not.
Santa Clara county fair
Santa Clara county is having a youth fair from July 30th - August 2nd. They'd like some people to demonstrate textile techniques. Contact Marcia if you are interested. A.C. is promissed.
Founders' Day Fandango
A celebration of local history. July 26, noon.5pm. History Park San Jose. Contact Marcia if you'd like to sit and spin at this event.
Treasury report
We have $1,72l.72 as of last deposit. This would be a good time to sponsor some workshops or classes. Send your Ideas to guild@serendipityspinners.com.
We voted to donate $100 to the Monterey Wool Auction.
The web cast went up to $11.95, we do not know why.
Show 'n Tell
Lotus: brought the completed Houdini Socks that were on the knitting needles last month. The pattern is by "that Cat person that plays with yarn". The socks are from recycled yarn from Phyllis, so Phyllis gets the socks.
