July Nutshell

by Sue, Ginger and Frank

Our July meeting was small. That seems to be something of a theme, lately. Doesn't it?

Treasurer's Report

There was none.

Old Business

There was none.

New Business

Monterey County Fair runs from September 1 - 6. The Wool Auction is Labor Day, September 6th. The wool judging is August 21 at the fairgrounds. It starts fairly early in the morning, breaks for a potluck lunch and then continues until done.

Next month: Sue will be at the San Jose Pride celebration with her jewelry booth. Frank is helping out. The meeting will need someone else to run it and photograph it.

Show 'n Tell

Chris: Started a new project in purple cotton - a bag for her laptop. She showed off the yarns she recently plied.

Frank: Has been making paper of late. He is spinning cat hair on his drop spindle.

Sue: Merely looked at the socks she is knitting. There is only one toe to go until the pair is finished. Then she gets to use her sock machine.

Ginger: (Neglected to fill in what she brought to show and enough time has elapsed that I've forgotten.)
spinning Mohair

Marge: knitting a hat from yarn from her stash. She would like to dye some of her yarn. The group gave her a reference to Dharma Trading Co. to get dye. The website has information on dyeing. She has her own stash plus her sister Mary's stash of wool fleece. Marge is in Gilroy for about half the year while Arizona is too hot.
Kitting a hat

Sharolene: Spinning camel silk on drop spindle.

Barbara: Teaches kids at McClellan Ranch Park in Cupertino. She's looking for people to share fiber expertise with the kids.

Carol: Same old knitting project.
Getting setup

Nancy F.: showed up after the meeting had finished. It was good to see her.

A spinner that Frank taught to spin at Stitches showed up with her mother:

And that's July in a Nutshell.
