February Nutshell

by Sue and Frank

Presumably due to Stitches being the same weekend, we had a *VERY* sparse turn-out. That's a good thing since we were evicted from the meeting room and told to meet in the lobby.  There was a wedding reception scheduled for the meeting room.   Since there were only three of us, we had show 'n tell and lunch and then adjourned.

With just the three of us, we didn't really have a meeting.  Lotus had sent along the treasurer's report, so it is included.   Also, our program chair has planned a program for us for March.  More on that in a moment.

Remember:  Please invite at least one person to a meeting this year - each and every one of you.

Treasurer's Report

We have $986.76 in the bank. This is after having received dues from a few people ($90) and paying Heifer International ($150) and before the Stitches proceeds and booth fee for next year have been processed. Lotus also let us know that Keith's health is slowly improving.

Activities

During the March meeting we'll be making polymer clay whorls for drop spindles.   Some of the experiments she and Frankie made are adorning our masthead this month.  This is what Chris, our activity chair says...

Make your own polymer clay drop spindles!  We will have several colors of polymer clay, some tools to use for rolling and shaping the clay, and a couple of toaster ovens to bake them once they're finished.  Some small wooden dowels will be available (3/8" diameter, 6" long, in bright colors), or bring your own dowels or chopsticks to use with the clay whorls you make!  If you want to experiment with wire or glass bead inclusions, bring wire and beads along and see what you can create!

Show 'n Tell

Chris S.:  Finished the sweather from last month.  The skein is Merino/Tencel.  She bought a pattern for crochetted "produce" from Ravelry.  Her neice loves to "help" shop.  Thanks to her aunt Chris, she now has a little string bag and produce all of her own to shop with.  Chris also showed her purchases from Stitches the previous day.

Chris will be moving across the country in the spring to help with some family matters.  We wish her well.

Frank: Wore the scarf he knitted for his knitting group.  When all the scarves are finished, they all go out to dinner wearing them.

Sue: Was there and took notes, such as they were.

And that's February in a Nutshell.
